Ready At Five's events - including the School Readiness Symposium series, professional development workshops and trainings, and Parent Forums - foster improved quality and systemic change of Maryland's early care and education system.

There is a well-established correlation between the education and knowledge that early childhood development professional receive and the quality of the services they provide. That is why Ready At Five puts so much energy into its School Readiness Symposia which feature national researchers discussing the latest scientifically based early childhood research for application in early childhood programs.

Our renowned School Readiness Symposia - offered 3 times a year - are a powerful way to provide professional development to early educators, pre-kindergarten and kindergarten teachers, policy makers, librarians, home visitors and otehr ealry childhood stakeholders to equip them with the knowledge, skills and resources to help young children to be ready successful in school.

To support and enhance Ready At Five's focus on the Science Domain of Learning during the 2008/09 school year, the Wednesday, September 17, 2008 School Readiness Symposium is Children and Science: A Natural Fit. It will feature Jeff Winokur and Karen Worth, Early Childhood Specialists, Center for Science Education, Education Development Center, Boston College. It will be held at the Sheraton Annapolis, from 8:30 am to 12:15 pm.
